LUCK |
One evening last summer, |
As you may understand, |
I went fishing with my Daddy |
About three miles from land. |
I then let down my fishing line |
And soon did get my wish, |
For when I pulled it back again, |
I had caught a lovely fish. |

A VISIT FROM SANTA CLAUS |
Some people have not seen Santa Claus, |
but I have. When we had our Christmas |
party Santa Claus came to visit us, and |
gave us all a present. He played games |
with us and we enjoyed his visit very much. |

BURGEO |
Something of our little Town |
In a few words I will tell, |
Written for our magazine |
Of the School House on the hill. |
The name of our town is Burgeo, |
Down the hill we oftimes glide, |
Our coastal boat carries the name, |
It is written on her side. |
Noted for its fine harbours, |
The lovely Sandbanks too, |
It is all a part of Burgeo, |
Even the place called Bay de Leau. |
The Long Reach and the Short Reach, |
Names we all know well; |
The Fish Plant, the Fishermen's Hope, |
Where different kinds of fish they sell |
One place before I finish |
Grandy's Brook I must not forget |
Watching the leaping salmon |
While on its banks I sit. |

OUR SCHOOL |
Our little school is painted green, |
Built on a lovely spot; |
We try to make it a happy place, |
And respect it as we ought. |
We play games at recess time, |
We think it really fun; |
To hop, to skip, to jump and run |
Until the bell is rung. |
We have four teachers in our school, |
Whom we know are good to us; |
We try to please them in each way, |
As all good children must.

MY CAT, PUFF |
I have a little cat, her name was Puff, |
Her fur was white, as soft as fluff. |
Some times she was mischievous, |
And did things she shouldn't do, |
Like jumping up on the table, or chewing up a shoe. |
She had a little rubber mouse, also a little fish |
Which she sometimes played with, and often broke a dish. |
But she was good, beneath all her fur, |
My dear little cat, that used to purr. |

MY HOME TOWN |
Burgeo is a small settlement located on the South West |
Coast of Newfoundland. It has a large fish plant which |
supplies most of the men with work. It also has a Post |
Office, a Lodge, a Hospital, two schools, two churches, |
and eight stores. Burgeo is surrounded by many islands. |
It has a salmon river called Grandy's River. |
